Plan

What fits in 4 hours

Four hours is long enough for one main stop and a slow cruise back. The usual half-day plans, by where you leave from:

  • Haulover & Sunny Isles: the Haulover sandbar is just inside the inlet, so most of your time is spent anchored in shallow water rather than travelling.
  • Miami Beach, Downtown or Brickell: a cruise past Star Island and Millionaire’s Row, then a swim stop at a sandbar or a quiet anchorage.
  • Key Biscayne: the Nixon sandbar and the Stiltsville houses are close by.
  • Coconut Grove: calmer bay water; sailboats and catamarans leave from here.

Which boat fits: a pontoon has open deck space and shade, and suits a relaxed sandbar day. A center console suits up to 6 guests who want to move quickly or fish. A yacht gives you more room and shade for a celebration. A catamaran or sailboat is the calm, slow option.

Tips

Before you book

  • Ask what time the 4 hours start: from boarding, or from leaving the dock.
  • Ask whether gratuity, fuel and fees are in the price.
  • Check the guest maximum for the exact boat, not just the company.
  • Ask about the weather policy, and whether a morning start is possible.
  • Bring the essentials from our boat day checklist.

FAQ

How much is a 4-hour yacht rental in Miami?

15 operators on this page publish a price that covers 4 hours with a captain: 14 as a 4-hour package and 1 as an hourly rate whose minimum is 4 hours or less (rate × 4, our math). Range $560–$2,500, median $900. Self-drive and captain-optional prices are listed separately and are not in the range: Boat Rental Miami, Best Boat Club and Pontoon.Miami. Ask whether gratuity, fuel and fees are included. Fishing charters are not counted here; they are on the fishing boats page.

Is 4 hours enough for a boat day in Miami?

For most groups, yes: it fits a cruise past the skyline and a swim stop at a sandbar. If you want a long lunch stop, two anchorages or a trip down to the Keys, look at a full day.

Do operators have a minimum rental time?

Some do. In our data, Miami Yachts (yachtrent.miami) state a 4-hour minimum. Others publish 2-hour packages.

What is usually not included?

Gratuity, fuel and fees are often extra. 12 of the 94 operators in our directory (Oct 2026) state on their site that fuel is included.
